Hello parents, peers, and friends
It has been a while and we are now coming to the end of the year. There will be significant changes at Prairie Moon even starting this summer, as I will be conducting camp sessions 2 and 4. But this another post. Getting off track here.
Even though we will be experiencing changes one my goals as the handwork teacher is to form a handwork curriculum that can be used by future handwork teachers at Prairie Moon. The curriculum is based off the Waldorf handwork curriculum and where the children are in their knowledge and abilities in handwork.
This year we have knitted in 1st and 2nd,
knitted and introducing crochet in third and fourth
and knitted, felted, cross stitching in 5th and 6th.
We have knitted small treasure bags, squares, cats and mice, Gnomes and are crocheting small potholders and cross stitching beautiful geometric designs. I will be changing the curriculum for next year so the children will make and learn something new, and then coming back to this 2010/2011 for 2012/2013 school year subject to a few changes and substitutes. Suggestions welcome.
OK I hoped that I was able to explain this so that you may understand, questions are welcome. I would like to share with everyone the patterns for our projects that we have completed and those that we are in the process of completing this year. As this post was my intention.
